Medical Information and Data: Representation, Acquisition, Presentation and Communication, Transducer, Analog Signal, Band-width of a signal, Digital Signal, Analog to Digital conversion, Quantization and Sampling, Encoding and Decoding, ECG, EEG, EMG and Phono-cardiogram, Digital Images and Video, DICOM standard, Image and Video compression: A brief introduction, Graphics Terminal and display. Fundamentals of Telecommunication: Signal, Channel, Channel Band-width, Carrier modulation and demodulation, Amplitude, Frequency and Phase modulation, Modulation of digital data: QAM, PSK, QPSK etc., Telephone line and modem, Communication media: Co-axial, UTP and STP cables, Fiber Optics Cable, wireless media, Satellite link, Mobile communication, Computer Network: OSI architecture, LAN and WAN.
